After going viral with the most impressive videos an AI has ever generated, Sora attempts to create the first fully-generated music video.

• Indie artist, Washed Out, partnered with OpenAI to generate over 700 clips using Sora, selecting 55 to use in the lightly-edited 4-minute music video of The Hardest Part.

• Result: the music video looks like a reel of visual diarrhea (like when the guy eats the girl’s ear), that only works for a trippy, vibey music genre like indiewave.

• However, the fact that the video could consistently generate 2 characters, consistently, is a big step for text-to-video AI.

The fact that only 8% of generated clips were used in the final edit, means that Sora is still generating a lot of trash 🗑️ .

Takeaway: We need to shift away from the expectation that AI will do 100% of a task to AI helping us fill in the gaps, like using Sora to generate B-Roll to fill in missing clips/reshoots.

So, overall, video editors live to see another day.

After decades of being used as a weather app, Siri is getting a massive upgrade.

• Next-Gen Siri is rumored to summarize messages, turn pictures into gifs, and use Shortcuts using simple voice commands.

• What’s impressive is that Apple is expected to get GPT 3.5 level quality, on a phone, with no connection to the internet.

• Since the AI will run in the phone and not on the cloud, it’s rumored only iPhone 16s and above will be able to use this Siri.

If the rumors are true, Apple is expected to announce the upgrades at Apple’s developer conference in June 2024.

Apple has internally been making a NEW chip to run AI programs in data centers.

They have been building chips for their own devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. And it’s about to flex on us by expanding it to AI capabilities.

This will allow for advanced customization of its devices and possibly some new AI features in your favorite Apple products.

With a project name like ACDC (Apple Chips in Data Centers), we have to be Thunderstruck.
